The Situation
A 1974 Swiss mechanical watch, inherited from a grandfather, had been sitting in a drawer for approximately twelve years. The crown was stiff and the movement was completely stopped.
What We Did
Assessed the movement first and provided a written report. With approval, we cleaned and lubricated the movement fully, replaced the mainspring, and freed the crown mechanism. Dial and hands were left untouched.
The Outcome
The watch now runs within acceptable tolerance for its age. The client was pleased that the original patina was preserved. The piece is being worn regularly again. Total service time: 14 working days.
The Situation
A sports watch rated to 200 metres was worn while swimming without issue for two years, then the client noticed fogging under the crystal. Suspected the caseback seal had degraded.
What We Did
Opened the case in a controlled environment, dried the interior, replaced all seals and gaskets. Pressure tested twice. The caseback O-ring had been the primary failure point.
The Outcome
Watch passed both pressure tests at its rated depth. Fogging resolved fully. Returned to client in 3 working days. Client confirmed no issues at six weeks post-service.
