Cogsworth & Dial
Watch repair workshop

Our story

A workshop built on
patience.

We've always believed that the way a watch is cared for says something about the person doing the caring. Cogsworth & Dial was founded on that idea.

Who we are

Cogsworth & Dial

Cogsworth & Dial has been operating from Bangsar since 2009. What started as a small bench repair operation — a few tools, a loupe, and a great deal of patience — has grown into a workshop that handles everything from straightforward quartz servicing to the more delicate work of assessing and restoring vintage timepieces.

Our approach has remained the same throughout. We look at each watch before we say anything. We describe what we find in plain language. We ask before we proceed. And we do the work by hand, at a pace that matches what the piece actually needs.

We are based in Bangsar and serve clients across Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley. Some people bring us watches they wear every day. Others bring pieces that belonged to someone they've lost. We treat both with the same care.

How we work

Our Standards

The principles we follow aren't rules imposed from the outside — they reflect the way we think a repair workshop should operate.

Written Assessments

We document what we find in plain language before any work begins. You receive a clear picture of your watch's condition and what we recommend.

Approval Before Work

Nothing is started without your agreement. This applies especially to vintage work, where the scope can shift once the movement is opened.

Pressure Testing Equipment

All water resistance work uses calibrated testing equipment. We test before and after resealing to confirm the restored rating.

Patina Preservation

We do not polish or refinish without being asked. For older pieces, signs of age are part of the watch's value, and we respect that.

Compatible Components

Replacement parts are sourced to match your watch's original specifications. We do not fit generic parts where manufacturer-spec items are obtainable.

Secure Handling

Every piece left with us is logged on arrival and tracked throughout its time in the workshop. Collection requires the original receipt.

About the craft

Watch repair in Kuala Lumpur

Watch repair is a trade that rewards attention. A quartz movement that has stopped may need a new module, a fresh battery, or simply a thorough cleaning of its contacts. A mechanical movement that runs slow may need nothing more than a calibration adjustment — or it may need a full strip-down and re-lubrication. The only way to know is to look.

In Bangsar and the wider KL area, Cogsworth & Dial has become a workshop that people come back to not just because the work is done well, but because the process feels respectful. We explain what we find, we listen to what matters to the client, and we work at a pace that the watch — not a schedule — dictates.

Vintage watch care is a particular focus. Many older timepieces in Malaysia are family pieces — watches worn by a grandparent or passed down through decades. They carry personal significance that goes well beyond their monetary value. Our approach to these watches is shaped by that understanding. We assess carefully, we advise honestly, and we intervene only as much as is genuinely needed.
